Word of the Day
Wednesday, February 28, 2007
Smarmy (adjective) – Insincere earnestness, smug or self-righteous behavior, having an exaggerated display

Word in a Sentence: In my novel Choices Meant for Gods, Godric’s smarmy welcome of the emperor to his estate is enough to turn everyone’s stomach.

Your turn! Use it in a sentence!

“Some days, you just want the dragon to win.”

Something that always annoyed me greatly was the smarmy behavior of some folks who always took the stance of their children being better than my kids - due to their affluence or education, etc., and meanwhile, those same kids were out raising as much, if not more, cain than were mine.

Fabulous!
Makes you wonder what they think when they figure out what their kids have been up to. You just have to hope they have enough sense to help the kids get straightened out, you know?

I met with two smarmy salesmen last week who were trying to sell us a copier/printer at work. THERE'S an experience where you want to go away and immediately take a shower. Ugh. Luckily, I wasn't the only person in the meeting. I was just there to support the gal gathering the info. Still, it was obnoxious.
