Word of the Day
Tuesday, May 8, 2007
Emunctory (adjective) - Excretory; a device or mechanism by which waste matter is carried out of a body or system, such as a valve one might install on one's house when one's almost ex-spouse is filling said abode with so much complete crap as to nearly drown one in it (as a noun, this word represents an emunctory organ or passage) (from Middle English emunctorie and Latin Emunctus which means 'to blow the nose')
Word in a Sentence: In Sandy Lender's novel Choices Meant for Gods, Nigel disposes of Priam Jeel like so much emunctory refuse in the blink of an eye when the greasy man threatens Chariss in the town square. (Because Nigel Taiman rocks! And you can read his blog over at http://sandylender.blogspot.com if you feel so moved.)
Your turn! Had any crap-filled moments to rant about in a sentence this morning? This is a rare moment when I encourage hostility at The Dragon! (I think I've just had a rough couple of days. I promise to be light and fluffy tomorrow!)
"Some days, I just want the dragon to win."
