Ryfel (noun) — Creatures that Julette created during the First War in the fantasy novel Choices Meant for Gods; they were banished completely after the war, but Julette found a way to re-create them in the spirit world and allow them entrance to the mortal world so they can help her with her evil deeds; they have a poisonous oily substance that flings from their claws, of course, which are razor sharp, of course; they don't have lips, but their mouths just sort of exist in their faces as openings with yellowed, jagged teeth; they're huge, about four men tall, with feet the size of a grown man's torso; oh, and they stink something awful; they have a putrid-green and yellow exoskeleton so killing one usually involves getting a sword blade or arrow through its skull/brain; this isn't easy when you're only 5 ½ feet tall and the thing is thrashing at you…
Etymology: Fantasy Author Sandy Lender just made up this word (and the creatures), but if you say it with a long "i" sound, it is "rife" with danger
Word in a Sentence (from the epic fantasy novel Choices Meant for Gods, page 99, The Master is speaking): "Standing here with this ryfel before me and you, you, Amanda Chariss as its slayer, makes no sense whatsoever."
Your turn! Have any beastly sentences in you today?
"Some days, I just want the dragon to win."
