The Dragon Gets Artsy
Or…you can meet Sandy Lender at the Naples Renaissance Art Fall Festival this weekend
As a member of the Naples Press Club, I'll be standing at the NPC tent this weekend at the Naples Renaissance Art Fall Festival to sell copies of my fantasy novel Choices Meant for Gods and to hand out literature for the NPC and its upcoming events.
Upcoming events for the Southwest Florida group include its annual writers' conference and authors and books festival, at which I had the pitch session that garnered my contract for Choices Meant for Gods almost two years ago. It's an event I recommend for other writers, not just because it offers a networking opportunity like that, but also because it offers a host of concurrent seminars on writing and publishing topics. You can get more information about the April 2008 conference at this address: http://authorsandbooksfestival.org/
As for the fantasy novel Choices Meant for Gods, I'm still excited about my book! People still come up to me and tell me that they've just read it (even though it was released back in March) and loved it. (Can you imagine what an ego boost that is with all the terrible things that are going on in my life right now?) So I can still recommend the book to folks who haven't read it yet. If you'd like to read actual reviews, there are a handful at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com, as well as some online reviews that speckled its release.
If you'd like to know what the book itself is about, let me give you a quick synopsis here, but there's some more info and the first three chapters available for free download at my publisher's site at http://www.archebooks.com/ under fantasy and science fiction. The novel takes place in a fantasy world I created, and if you were lucky enough to catch any of the tour stops along my online book tour back in June and July, some of the hosts asked about that world. It's completely alien to this one, with its own cartography, its own star chart, its own religion, its own history, its own political system, its own myths and legends, and its own wonderful story about a young lady who's been on the run from a madman all her life. But this story is about girl power. Because when Chariss finally decides to stop and stand up for herself, we discover she's surrounded in prophecy. She's important. And she's meant to protect the very gods of her society.
I hope you'll check it out, if not for yourself, maybe for a fantasy lover who's mourning the end of the Harry Potter series. If you can't get to a Barnes & Noble brick-n-mortar store, you've still got time to get it through Amazon or my publisher's site in time for Christmas… Or you can stop by the Naples Renaissance Art Fall Festival this weekend and get an autographed copy directly from me! See you there!
